Can we talk about how long it actually takes to fix a bad toner?

I had a client in Dallas last month who wanted silver but walked out looking green. Took me 3 color corrections and 6 hours to fix it. What's the longest you spent undoing a mistake?

Heard a stylist in a podcast say toner fixes take way longer than anyone admits. Six hours sounds brutal, but I've read about corrections that go 8+ hours on dark hair going light. The green is always the worst, takes multiple passes with red or copper to cancel it out. Clients never get why it's not a 20 minute fix.

Oh man, @max_schmidt77 is totally right about clients not getting it. I mean, it's like when you try to fix a bad dye job at home and think a quick rinse will undo everything, but it's never that simple. Everything in life takes way more time to fix than it did to mess up.

gonna have to push back a little here @max_schmidt77. i've been doing color for 12 years and honestly a lot of those 8 hour fixes come down to the stylist overcomplicating things. green tones can usually be fixed in 2 passes max if you know your color theory and use the right level of red or copper. i've seen way too many stylists keep piling more color on instead of just letting the first cancelation settle and checking again. clients definitely don't get the timeline but if you're transparent from the start about the process most of them are cool with it. six hours for silver going green sounds like the base wasn't lifted enough before toning in the first place. fix is only as long as the mistake was deep.
