Finally tried a razor comb for texturizing instead of my usual thinning shears.

Did a bob on a client in Portland yesterday and the razor gave me way softer movement than the shears ever did, has anyone else had that work out better or did I just get lucky?

My first time trying a razor comb on a long bob in Chicago last spring was a total game changer. I had a client with super thick, stubborn hair that always looked choppy with shears, but the razor gave it this soft, lived-in texture that actually moved when she walked. It sounds like you got the real deal with that bob, I've found the razor really does create a different kind of movement that shears just can't match.

Wait it's actually called a razor comb? I thought that was just what people called those old school straight razors from the barbershop. Is a razor comb like a specific tool with a handle and blade built together?

Whoa, yeah I had the same confusion for the longest time. I thought a razor comb was just one of those old school straight razors too, like from a barbershop in a movie. But then I actually saw one in action at a salon and realized it's a totally different tool, like a comb with a razor edge built right into it... makes way more sense now.
