My aunt told me to always use a paddle brush on wet hair, and she was so wrong!
She's not a pro, just a family member who gives a lot of advice. I listened and used one on a client with fine, color-treated hair last week, and it caused so much breakage and frizz. I had to switch to a wide-tooth comb immediately to finish the detangle. Has anyone else gotten bad hair care advice from well-meaning non-professionals?

Ever notice how people give the most confident advice on stuff they know nothing about? My buddy swore by using dish soap to clean his car for years until the paint started looking awful. Sometimes you just gotta ignore the noise and stick to what actually works.

It's crazy how much damage a simple brush can do on fragile wet hair.

Fragile wet hair" seems like a stretch, caseywalker. It's just hair. People have been brushing it wet for years without it all falling out. Are we being too careful now? Feels like another thing to worry about that doesn't need it. Just use a wide-tooth comb and go slow, it's not that deep.
