Why does nobody talk about how formaldehyde exposure adds up over time?

I worked at a salon in Richmond for about 12 years and never thought twice about the smell of smoothing treatments. Last year I got bloodwork done and my doctor asked if I worked with chemicals because my levels of something were a bit high. It made me realize we don't really talk about long term safety in this trade. Has anyone else had a similar health scare or changed how they ventilate their workspace?

I heard a cosmetologist talking about how she started getting nosebleeds and headaches after years of doing keratin treatments. It's wild to me that this isn't a bigger conversation in the industry.
