Hot take: The weirdest writing prompt I ever found was on a bathroom stall in a truck stop near Flagstaff.

It just said, 'You wake up as the last slice of pizza at a party. Go.' I couldn't stop thinking about it for the whole drive to Phoenix. What's the most bizarre prompt you've stumbled on in the wild?

Found one on a park bench that said "You are a ghost, but only for tax purposes." Wrote a whole story about an IRS auditor haunting a corporate office. The trick is to just lean into the weirdness hard. Don't question the logic, just figure out the rules of that world. What does the pizza slice want? To be eaten? To escape? The horror comes from committing to the bit.

Okay, the truck stop bathroom stall prompt is amazing. That would have stuck with me too. I once saw one scratched into a library study carrel that just said, "Your cat is your new landlord." It was so specific and weird, and I spent the next hour trying to figure out what the late fees would be. Yours is better though, because the pizza slice has a real horror movie vibe to it.

Ha, thanks @the_olivia, but my pizza slice is just my brain's weird lunch order.

Oh man, that library one is great. It reminds me of my friend who found "the beans know" carved into a bus seat. He spent weeks, like, actually worried about what the beans knew. The weirdly specific ones are the best, they hook right into your brain. I get what @michael_williams means about the pizza slice being a weird lunch order, but that's what makes it stick, you know? It feels like the start of a story where the pizza is definitely cursed.
