My two-year pause on a sea city prompt changed my view
Most folks argue that you should jump on writing prompts fast to catch the initial spark. I believe letting a prompt simmer for ages can build way better worlds, lol. For example, I sat with a prompt about an underwater civilization for two whole years, just thinking it through. When I finally wrote it, the story had a depth that rushing would have totally missed.

That's cool but I'd lose all momentum waiting that long.

Reading an article on productivity last week, it talked about how short pauses can actually help refocus rather than kill momentum. The writer argued that our fear of stopping often comes from misunderstanding how attention works. In your case, a brief wait might let you come back with fresh eyes and better ideas. I've found that to be true when I force myself to step away from a project. Sometimes the delay saves time in the long run by avoiding rushed mistakes.

Yeah, I set a timer for those breaks so I don't get stuck.

Totally get the momentum fear (been there). But some ideas just need to marinate, you know? The good ones stick around.
