Can we discuss the environmental cost of mandatory security upgrades?

I disagree that we must always replace old devices for better security. This just leads to more e-waste. For instance, my ancient tablet still works safely with updated software.

Honestly used to roll my eyes at talk about longer support... seemed like a way to sell new stuff. But my old phone got a surprise update that fixed a big battery drain. Everything just worked better for another whole year. That really changed how I see it. Keeping things secure and running smoothly matters way more than I thought.
