DAE use WD-40 on bike chains without issues?

I've been fixing bikes as a side gig, and I always spray WD-40 on chains to clean them before adding lube. Everyone tells me this will ruin the chain, but I haven't had a single chain fail on me yet. What's your take on using WD-40 for chain cleaning?

The first day after, I shod three horses without once having to search for a tool (which was nice). It might sound small, but having a tidy space lets me focus on the hoof, not my mess. Plus, my back thanks me for not bending over to pick things up all the time. If your workspace is a bit chaotic, I'd say give it a go, it makes a big difference.

I disagree that we must always replace old devices for better security. This just leads to more e-waste. For instance, my ancient tablet still works safely with updated software.
