Figured out I was reusing passwords for years after a data breach email

Last month I got an email from haveibeenpwned saying my email was in a breach from 2018. I checked and realized I had been using the same password for my bank account and a random forum I signed up for back in college. Has anyone else had a wakeup call from one of those breach checkers?

Wait, you mean my bank account security shouldn't be tied to the same password I used to argue about which Star Wars movie sucked on some dead forum in 2014? That's just good multitasking if you ask me. I got the same wakeup call from haveibeenpwned about a breach from 2017, and I swear half my passwords back then were just variations of "password123" with different numbers at the end. Now I let my browser remember everything so I don't have to think about it. Lazy or smart, you decide.

That breach checker honestly woke me up hard. Used to think those sites were just fear mongering for clicks, but then I saw my own email in a list from some random gaming forum I barely remembered. Made me realize how dumb it was to have the same password for my Netflix and my main email account. Now I use a password manager and change stuff every few months, it's not that hard once you get used to it. Crazy how we all just got lazy and assumed nothing bad would happen.
