Just set up a new router and had to pick between WPA2 and WPA3 for my home network

My old router finally died last week, so I got a new one that supports the newer WPA3 security. I had to choose between using just WPA2, which all my stuff works with, or turning on WPA3, which is supposed to be safer. I went with WPA3 because I read it fixes some big problems WPA2 has, like those KRACK attacks. So far, my phone and laptop connect fine, but my smart TV won't join the network at all. Has anyone else run into devices that don't play nice with WPA3 yet? What did you do to fix it?

Is it just me or does it feel like we're always stuck in this middle ground where new tech leaves old stuff behind?

Yeah, my smart TV did the same thing with WPA3. Had to dig into the network settings and turn on a "WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode" on the router. That got the TV online. Some older gadgets just don't get the new security yet.

Oh man, that mixed mode trick is a lifesaver! I saw an article last week saying a ton of smart home gadgets, like plugs and lights, are still stuck on WPA2. It's super annoying that they sell this new stuff that can't even handle the newer wifi security. Makes you wonder how long until everything actually catches up. Your fix was totally the right move to get things working.
