Pro tip: Test your VPN kill switch before you actually need it
Forgot to check mine before using public wifi at a coffee shop in Austin and my IP leaked for a full 5 minutes before I noticed, anyone else had a close call like that?

Same. Learned that lesson watching nascar highlights instead of checking email.

That actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it. @rowan_ross, Nascar highlights are way more urgent than most email chains anyway. I once missed a deadline because I was glued to a live stream of someone rebuilding a lawnmower engine. The trick is to set your phone to vibrate for important alerts, then you can watch whatever you want and still catch the stuff that actually needs a reply.

That makes a lot of sense" is right. It's like how people buy a surge protector for their computer but never test if it actually works until a storm hits. I had a similar scare last year when my VPN failed during a hotel booking session. Now I do a quick leak test every time I switch networks. It takes 30 seconds and saves a lot of headaches.

lmao yeah i read somewhere that like 70% of people never even test their kill switch after setting it up. caught myself on a public network at a mcdonalds in dallas once doing banking stuff without realizing my vpn dropped, felt like a total idiot for a solid 10 minutes. now i hit up ipleak.net every time i switch networks too, literally takes less than a minute. its wild how easy it is to forget until something bad almost happens.
