That stat about password managers blew my mind

I read something on a security blog last Tuesday that still has me thinking. Apparently over 80% of data breaches happen because of weak or stolen passwords. I always thought it was more about fancy hacking tools or zero day exploits. But nope, it's basically just people using 'password123' or the same login for everything. That really hit home for me because I used to do the same thing until I got hit with a phishing email two years ago. Lost access to an old email account and it took me a week to sort it out. Now I use a password manager but I still wonder if most folks even know how easy it is to get cracked. Has anyone else here had a close call that made them switch things up?

Whoa hold on, I gotta push back a little on this. All that trust you're putting in a password manager just means if they get hacked, then every single one of your logins is toast at once.

Over 80% of data breaches happen because of weak or stolen passwords." That stat got me too. I used to think hackers were all geniuses cracking systems with complex code. But really it's just people using "password" or their dog's name. Got hit with a keylogger once from a shady download. Had to wipe my whole laptop and change everything. Switched to a password manager after that and never looked back.
