Why does everybody skip checking the injector return lines?

I swear I keep pulling into shops behind other mechanics who just replaced injectors on a 6.0 Powerstroke and the truck is still running like garbage. I had a guy in Denver last month bring me a 2005 F-350 that three different guys already worked on. They all put in new injectors but never bothered to look at the return line crossover tube. That stupid plastic T-fitting was cracked and leaking fuel pressure back to the tank. I replaced that $15 part and the truck ran perfect. How come nobody talks about this stuff? Has anyone else dealt with a simple return line issue that everyone else overlooked?

Crazy how everyone gets hypnotized by the high pressure oil side.

Grab a cheap inspection mirror and a good flashlight before you touch anything else on that truck. I've found hairline cracks on those T-fittings that you'd never see otherwise, especially on the back side near the valley pan.

Oh man, the cracked plastic T-fitting on the return line crossover (you know, the one that costs less than a tank of gas) is such a classic. I had a 2004 F-350 come in last spring, the guy already swapped injectors, IPR valve, and even the high pressure oil pump. Truck still idled rough and smoked like crazy. I found the same exact cracked T-fitting, plus the little rubber o-rings on the return line ends were all dried out and leaking. Threw a $12.50 kit at it and it ran perfect. It's wild how everyone skips the cheap stuff and goes straight for the big parts.
