Warning: spent 4 hours fixing a shading layer issue that should've taken 10 minutes

I accidentally merged a shading layer into the wrong group in Procreate and didn't notice until I'd already painted over it - took me way too long to undo everything. Has anyone else had a simple digital art mistake spiral into a half-day fix?

Man, did you at least get the layers renamed after that mess?

Man, that really sucked. I feel for you. I had a similar situation last month where I accidentally merged two layers and couldn't get them back no matter what I tried. The whole project just felt wrong after that, like I was working with broken tools. Renaming everything is such a pain but honestly it's probably the only way to keep your sanity. Hope you got it sorted out, those little mistakes can really mess up your whole workflow.

Five dollars says half the drama came from you panicking and making it worse instead of just stepping back for a second. I've been there, merged something dumb in Photoshop and spent an hour clicking undo before realizing I could've just closed the file and reopened the autosave. @the_felix you're right that renaming is a pain but honestly sometimes a layer called "shading fix 3" is good enough for me. Maybe I'm just lazy but I feel like if the mistake took 4 hours to fix, the real issue was getting in your own head, not the software glitching.
