Showerthought: My internet speed in Chiang Mai went from hero to zero in 6 months

Back in January, I was pulling a solid 80 Mbps down in my condo near Nimman. It was perfect for video calls and uploading client files. Now, in July, I'm lucky to get 15 on a good day, and it drops out every afternoon. I think the building just got too many new remote workers and the shared line can't handle it. The landlord just shrugs when I ask about it. Has anyone else in CM had this happen and found a good backup plan, like a specific coworking space with reliable fiber?

Wait, are you sure you're on a shared line? Most condos in Nimman have individual fiber hookups for each unit. Could it be your router is just old and dying in the humidity? I had that happen last year, and swapping it out fixed my drops. Before you hunt for a coworking space, maybe check with your internet provider directly. They can tell you if it's a building issue or just your own gear.

Totally feel this, my building in Old City had the same crash. Got a cheap 4G backup router for the bad days, it's a lifesaver.

Yeah, that 4G backup idea from @carr.luna is smart. I'd go for one of those portable hotspot devices you can top up with data, they're super easy to grab at a mall. For a coworking spot, Punspace on the canal has never let me down with their fiber, it's my go-to when my home net gets shaky.

Actually, blaming the building is a total cop-out. @lisas78 is onto something. Your own gear is probably the real problem. Old routers overheat and die, it's basic tech life. I had a friend whose laptop wifi card just gave up in the heat. You should run a direct ethernet cable test before you complain. Jumping to a coworking space every day is just avoiding the actual fix.
