PSA: That untreated pine deck I built last June is already rotting in three spots

I used pressure-treated lumber for the frame but cheaped out on the deck boards with untreated pine from the lumber yard on Maple Street, and after just 14 months it's already got soft spots near the posts where the water pools after every rain - has anyone else had luck switching to cedar or composite for just the top surface?

Did you use galvanized nails or just regular screws? I swear half the problems people have with outdoor stuff comes down to people skimping on the little things like fasteners and then acting surprised when the whole thing falls apart in a year.
