After years of messy edges, I finally started taping off trim before painting (why did I wait so long?)

That putty knife trick is a game changer for sure. Makes all the difference.

Man, why does getting a clean line feel like solving a mystery sometimes? I fought with some old, bumpy trim last month and that tape seal trick was the ONLY thing that saved me. That feeling when you peel it back and see that perfect edge is just the best.

Forget the putty knife. Use the back of a plastic spoon. It's softer and won't tear the tape on old trim. Gives you the same seal without the risk.

How did I ever paint a straight line without that blue tape? I read a pro tip to run a putty knife along the edge to really seal it down. That extra step makes such a clean line and is totally worth the time.
