I bought a $200 paint sprayer for my kitchen cabinets and totally regret it.

I thought it would save me a weekend, but the setup and cleanup took forever and I still got drips on my oak floors. A friend in Phoenix said I should have just used a good brush and roller for a small job like that. Anyone have a better method for cabinet painting without the mess?

Honestly, I used that exact method on my own maple cabinets last fall and it was a total game changer. The sprayer gave me a smooth factory finish that a brush just can't touch, and I did all the upper cabinets in about two hours of spraying. Sure, you spend an afternoon masking everything off with plastic sheeting, but that's way better than spending three days cutting in with a brush. Once you get the paint thickness right, drips aren't really a problem. I'd use a sprayer again in a heartbeat.

That factory finish comment reminds me of my neighbor's sprayer disaster.

Okay but is it really worth all that plastic and mess? @karenc20 makes it sound easy, but spraying inside a house seems like a huge hassle. You need perfect conditions and a ton of prep to avoid paint dust on everything. A good brush and taking your time can give a really clean finish without turning your kitchen into a hazmat zone. Maybe for a pro it makes sense, but for most people it's overkill.
