I mean, a three day faucet job is pretty rough but it's usually the shut off valves that are the real problem. If those old valves under the sink are seized, you have to turn off the water to the whole house first. Maybe it's just me but I always spray them with penetrating oil the night before.

Remember that time I tried to replace a valve without shutting off the main line first, @miaprice? Ended up with a geyser in my kitchen that soaked everything. Your tip about the oil is smart because forcing those old parts always makes things worse.
