My electrical panel label project hit 37 circuits and I had to stop
I finally got around to labeling my home's breaker panel last month, a job I've put off for years. I started with a simple label maker and the old handwritten list from the previous owner. By the time I traced everything, I had accounted for 37 separate circuits. That number stopped me cold. My house is a normal three-bedroom ranch built in the 60s. I found three separate circuits just for the kitchen outlets, and two dedicated lines for the garage that I never knew about. The old list was missing over a dozen of them, including the line for the furnace. It matters because if I'd had an emergency and trusted that old list, I would have killed the wrong breaker. Has anyone else found a surprisingly high circuit count in an older home and how did you map it all out?
