Painted my kitchen cabinets 6 months ago and they still look brand new after a greasy taco night
I used a Behr alkyd enamel with a foam roller and took the time to clean everything with TSP before priming, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has had that same luck with oil-based paints holding up better than water-based ones?

Yeah that TSP prep really makes the difference, I did a bathroom vanity with Behr alkyd and it still looks great after two years.

dude that behr alkyd enamel is the real deal. i did my laundry room cabinets with the same stuff about a year ago and they still look perfect even with bleach splashes and stuff. water based paints just dont hold up the same way with grease and grime. the TSP prep is a pain but totally worth it, i skipped it once on a rental flip and the paint peeled right off. just make sure you let that alkyd cure fully for like a week before you put any weight on the doors. thats where most people mess up.

That week of curing is no joke. I did my kitchen cabinets with this same paint and thought three days was enough. Put the hardware back on and one of the handles pulled right out of the door, took a chunk of paint with it. Had to sand that whole door down and start over. Live and learn. Also if anyone is doing a bathroom cabinet with this stuff, run a fan in there for a few days. That smell is legit strong even after it dries.
