PSA: I thought using a 2 inch paint roller for a whole room was a time saver, but my buddy in Tacoma said to try a 4 inch.

I tried it on my living room and it cut the job down by almost half, which was a huge surprise. Anyone have a similar trick for cutting in around the trim faster?

My uncle swears by a small angled brush for trim, but I just use painter's tape. It takes a minute to put up, but you can roll right up to it fast. Saves me from a shaky hand disaster.

Wait, @shane_wilson, but what about pulling the tape off?

Tape is a total crutch that makes you lazy. Morgan_stone33 has a point about pulling it off, because half the time it tears or bleeds anyway. Learning to cut in freehand with a good brush builds real skill and is way faster in the long run. You spend more time fixing tape mistakes than you save by using it. A steady hand comes with practice, not from relying on sticky plastic.
