Appreciation post: A detailer in Tacoma told me my weld symbols were backwards
He pointed out I had the arrow on the wrong side of the reference line for a fillet weld, which would have caused a big mess in the shop. I went back and checked my old drawings and found I'd been doing it wrong for years. Anyone else get a piece of feedback that fixed a bad habit you didn't even know you had?

Oh man, that "bad habit you didn't even know you had" thing hits home. My buddy who's a machinist had a similar wake up call. He'd been using the same speed and feed for a certain material for ages, and a new guy quietly showed him a chart that proved he was way off. He said it was equal parts embarrassing and a huge relief to finally fix it.

My old guitar teacher had me doing a basic fingerpicking pattern wrong for TWO YEARS. A student half my age pointed it out during a group lesson, and my face went bright red. But man, the sound was instantly cleaner.

Your story and the_julia's remind me how we all get stuck in bad habits sometimes.
