DAE think people are way too sloppy with their layer naming?

I just finished a project where I had to fix someone else's CAD file. They had layers named 'stuff', 'new', and 'layer1'. Took me 3 hours just to figure out what was what. A good naming system saves everyone time and headaches. How do you guys organize your layers?

I'm guilty of a 'temp' layer that's been in my last five projects. It's a problem.
