Switched to a hydraulic dredge pump after 8 years of cable-driven on the Mississippi

Ran my first full shift with it last night near Baton Rouge and the suction didn't drop once, even on the compacted sand bar, has anyone else made the switch and found it worth the extra maintenance?

Heard a guy on a barge say hydraulic is way smoother on shifting sediment loads...

Gotta agree with that barge guy, sediment loads can be a real pain with jerky shifts. You ever run into that issue yourself?

You're spot on, sediment loads are a total headache with jerky shifts. I've been through that headache more times than I care to count. Makes you wonder if there's a better way to handle it, right?
