20 years in the trade and I just realized I'd been stripping Romex with my linesman's wrong
A 19-year-old apprentice watched me nick the copper for the 10th time in a row and asked why I didn't just use the shear cut notch at the top of the jaw, so now I'm sitting here wondering how many service calls I caused over the decades.

Man I used to be one of those guys who swore by the flat part of the jaw for stripping, thought the notch was just for scoring conduit or something. But then a buddy showed me the trick a few years back and it honestly changed everything for me, no more nicked copper and way less frustration. It's crazy how you can do something for so long and just never think to question it until some kid points it out. Now I catch myself showing it to anyone who still strips the old way, feels like paying it forward sort of.

Nah, the notch is a gimmick. Flat jaw works fine if you know what you're doing.

Totally agree with @caseywalker on this. Once you get the hang of that notch it's a game changer. @scott.alex I used to think the same thing but after trying it a few times the flat jaw just isn't as consistent for me, especially on the smaller gauges.
