Getting constant smart switch installs has me and the old-timers at odds

Ngl, every other project now involves some kind of automated system. Half my team is all in on learning the new programming, saying it's where the money is. The other half calls it a fad and sticks to traditional setups. Honestly, I see both sides, but I'm not sure which way to lean. How's your shop handling this shift?

Just stock the truck with both manuals; the complaints fade with the extra zeroes on the invoice.

Yeah, so my shop's been wrestling with this too. We got this one client who wanted everything voice-controlled, lights, fans, the works. Some of the older guys were ready to walk off the job, saying it's too much trouble. But I saw the bill for that install, and it was no joke, way more than a standard switch swap. Now I'm trying to learn the basics, because even if it's a fad, the money's real good right now. You kinda have to adapt or get left behind, but I get why the old timers are nervous.

Remember my buddy who does HVAC work telling me about a retrofit last month. His senior partner almost blew a gasket trying to figure out the smart thermostat wiring, said it was pure nonsense. But the home owner paid them triple their usual rate for the two hours of headache. That same old partner now carries the manual for those things in his truck, grumbling the whole time but still doing the jobs. He admitted the extra cash bought his wife a real nice anniversary gift, so the fuss was worth it. Sometimes the grumpiest ones come around once they see the new tools just mean better paydays.

My uncle still uses a rotary phone, swears it's safer.
