Hit 500 panel swaps this week and it got me thinking...

Some guys say volume is all that matters for getting fast, but I've seen guys who do 100 a year take way more care than me at 500... does speed really beat quality in the long run, or are we just lying to ourselves to get more jobs done?

The whole "speed beats quality" thing is a trap. I've called back work on panels where a fast guy blew through it and missed a loose neutral, cost way more time than just doing it right the first time. On the other hand, 500 swaps a year means you've seen every messed up situation possible, so you know what to look for without slowing down. Real fast comes from knowing when to hustle and when to take that extra second to torque a lug right.

Matt's right. Speed without care is just ego.

And the real kicker nobody talks about is how your body holds up. I did 400+ swaps a year for three years straight and now my left wrist is done at 38, can't torque a lug without pain. The guys doing 100 a year might not be as fast but they're still working at 55 with both hands. Long run isn't just about callbacks, it's about whether your career lasts past 15 years.
