Just realized the Klein NCVT-3 is way better than the Fluke 1AC for checking live wires
I used both on a rewire job in a Phoenix duplex last month. The Fluke would give false positives near fluorescent lights, but the Klein's dual-range detection was solid and the audible beep was clearer over background noise. Anyone else find one voltage tester just works better for them?

Stick with my old Fluke for years out of pure habit, even though it chirps at every transformer in a five-mile radius. Finally tried a friend's Klein on a panel and felt like a complete idiot for not switching sooner. The difference in a noisy mechanical room was honestly embarrassing. Guess brand loyalty just made me deaf.

Wait, so your Fluke was picking up transformers from down the street? That's wild, @milesbarnes. Mine acts up near old fluorescent ballasts, but that's next level. Can't imagine trying to trace a real problem with all that noise. Makes you wonder what actual readings you missed over the years. What did the Klein do differently in that room?

Yeah, I had the same issue with my old Fluke near some HVAC units. The Klein just ignores that stray voltage and only beeps for actual hot wires. The low range setting is perfect for sorting out ghost voltage in old conduit.
