Update: I sent a $2,100 invoice with a 2% weekly late fee and the client paid in 6 hours
Last week I added a 2% per week late fee to a $2,100 invoice for a logo package, mostly as a bluff since I never expected it to work. The client had ignored two reminders already, but the moment that fee line showed up they paid the full amount in 6 hours without a single word. Has anyone else had a late fee clause actually scare a client into paying, or did it just make them mad?

Back in college my roommate owed me 80 bucks for like four months and I finally told him I was adding "rent" to it, and he paid me that same night. Sometimes just seeing a number go up flips a switch in people. The fee was probably less scary than the idea of it never stopping.
