The peel I did without checking the lamps ruined a client's weekend

Honestly, last Friday I did a medium depth peel on a regular and didn't notice the LED lamp in the room had a broken bulb that was throwing off my timing. I rushed the neutralization because I thought the solution was farther along than it was. She texted me Saturday with redness and some peeling on day one, way earlier than it should happen. I've since started checking every light source before I even mix anything, but has anyone else had a lighting issue mess up their treatment results?

A broken bulb? That's wild. I've had lamps flicker on me mid-peel and it's maddening, but the thought of one being out and just quietly shifting everything is honestly terrifying. Like you're standing there trusting what your eyes see, and the whole time the light is lying to you. I can't imagine the panic when that text came in Saturday. I've been burned by a dodgy timer before, but at least that's an equipment thing you can double check. A lamp messing with your perception is a whole other level of sneaky.

Wait, has anyone else had a light straight up lie to them like that? That's brutal. I had a similar thing happen with a chemical peel once, but it was a flickering fluorescent tube in the hall that kept messing with the room's ambient light. I thought the neutralizer was turning the right color way sooner than it actually was, so I did the same thing, rushed it, and the client ended up with patchy peeling that looked like a bad sunburn for a week. Now I literally turn on every light in the room and walk around to check the bulbs before I even open the peel bottle. That text on a Saturday is the worst feeling, like your whole stomach drops out. It's crazy how much we rely on just looking at stuff, lol.
