Bought a $400 digital fabric printer that ended up being a total waste

I was so excited to print my own patterns at home... saved up for a year and got this printer that claimed to handle silk and cotton. The colors looked great on the screen but came out faded and wrong on the actual fabric, no matter what settings I tried. I probably wasted over $150 on special inks and test fabric trying to get it to work right. On one side, having your own printer seems like a game-changer for small runs. On the other, maybe it's just cheaper and better to use a professional printing service until you're doing huge volumes. Has anyone else had a good experience with a home printer, or did you learn the hard way too?

Wait you spent a HUNDRED AND FIFTY bucks just on ink and test fabric? That's insane! I feel your pain though, the ads make it look so easy and the real thing is just a huge letdown. It's like these companies know you'll give up before you ask for a refund. Honestly after hearing stuff like this I'm starting to believe the whole home setup is just a trap for small creators.

I used to be convinced a home printer was the smart move for small batches. I mean, I spent like $300 on a similar setup for linen prints. The color matching was just impossible to get right without professional gear. It completely changed my mind about where to put my money for this stuff.

My basement humidity ruined three printers before I quit.
