Just saw my first $500 month from freelancing and I'm shook

I started doing logo designs on Fiverr three months ago and charged $50 each. Last night I checked my dashboard and saw I made $510 this month. That number caught me off guard because I thought I'd be lucky to break $200. I used the pricing guide from the Freelance Files blog to figure out my rates. Has anyone else had that moment where the math actually worked out better than you expected?

Yeah I gotta disagree a little bit. $50 logos are not really a rate that's going to hold up long term once people start asking for revisions or more complex work. That pricing guide you mentioned also probably left out the part where Fiverr takes 20% right off the top so your actual take home is more like $400 before taxes. I've seen a lot of new freelancers get excited about these numbers and then burn out fast because they didn't factor in the time spent on back and forth with clients. Just don't get too comfortable at $50 a pop is all I'm saying.

Wait @sandragrant, didn't you end up raising your prices after the first few months too?

Wow, 20%?? I knew platforms took a cut but I had no idea it was that much. That's way higher than I would have guessed honestly. So on a $50 logo you're only pocketing $40 before taxes even come into it. That really puts things in perspective when people talk about those entry level prices being sustainable. I mean no wonder freelancers get burned out, you'd have to crank out a ton of those just to make a basic living.
