Should first-time buyers skip the home inspection if the seller offers a warranty? My Portland experience says no

I toured a house in Portland last week where the seller pushed a $500 home warranty instead of letting me bring an inspector, and after finding cracked foundation tape in the basement, I'm wondering if anyone else thinks warranties are just a band-aid for hidden problems?

and honestly nobody talks about what the warranty actually covers. most of them are just for appliances and mechanical stuff, not structural cracks or foundation work. so you'd pay 500 bucks for peace of mind that doesnt even cover the thing that matters.

Used to think warranties were fine, but that crack changed my mind real quick.
