Showerthought: I bought a $200 floral foam alternative that was a total bust

Last fall, I got talked into this new 'eco-friendly' foam made from plant fibers for a big wedding arch job. It was supposed to hold stems just as well. It didn't. The whole thing sagged halfway through setup, and I had to scramble to redo everything with the old stuff. Lost about $200 on the product and an hour of frantic work. Anyone have a green foam that actually works, or should we just stick with the classic?

Wait, they charged you two hundred dollars for a bag of that stuff? That's not just a bad product, that's straight up robbery for something that doesn't even work.

Fancy mulch" is right. I just use chicken wire now.

Eco-friendly foam" sounds like one of those things that works great in a lab and then completely folds in the real world. Classic case of it holding up a daisy in a demo but failing a whole wedding arch. You basically paid $200 for a bag of fancy mulch. I feel like the green version of most products is just the regular version but worse and with a guilt trip attached.
