Walked into a wholesaler in Pittsburgh and the place smelled like a brewery

I'm not kidding. The whole back room. Fermenting flowers. Turns out they had a batch of lilies sitting too long in a hot loading dock. Owner said it happens when the truck gets delayed. Three skids of stock gone. He just laughed about it. Anyone else walk into a supply house and catch something weird like that?

Wow, that's one hell of a smell to walk into! I actually read a story online about a lumber yard in Ohio that had a similar issue but with a skunk that got trapped in their shed. Stunk up the whole place for a week. Lily rot must be something else though, I bet that fermenting smell is super strong and sour. Did they have to toss all the flowers or could they salvage some for really cheap?

Wait, you're telling me they had the same smell problem with a skunk trapped in a lumber shed? That's insane, I can't imagine a skunk smell plus rotting flowers together.

Think they should have saved what they could, honestly. @webb.hannah probably knows more about this than me but a little rot smell goes away if you dry the lilies out long enough. Way less wasteful than trashing everything.
