Hit 500 pours on the new sand system without a single blowhole defect
We switched to that automated binder system six months ago and I was tracking every pour. Yesterday the counter hit 500 perfect castings, which I honestly didn't think was possible with our old manual mix. Do you think this is mostly the new tech, or is it our crew finally getting the sand-to-metal ratio dialed in perfectly?

Honestly, I'd say it's way more the crew (sorry @davidshah).

Remember when everyone swore by that one brand of mixing board because it had the magic "punch" button? Turns out the button just added a preset EQ curve that any decent engineer could do by hand. The real trick was that it made the less experienced guys sound good enough to keep their jobs while they learned.

It's probably both, but I've seen this with other gear. The new tech gives you a perfect baseline every time, which then lets the crew learn what "right" actually looks like. After a while, their skill catches up to the machine's consistency and it just locks in.
