Spent about $300 on a tax prep software subscription and honestly, it saved me from a huge headache this April.

Oh man, you are SO right. I used to try and do it all myself with the free forms and it was a total nightmare every single year. That software fee feels steep but it catches stuff I would have completely missed. I just finished mine and it found two deductions I didn't even know about, basically paid for itself. Worth every penny to not have that stress hanging over your head.

Right? The peace of mind is the real product you're buying. I finally stopped seeing it as a cost and started seeing it as paying for my own free time back.

Totally get what you mean about paying for your free time back. But there's another layer to it for me. It's not just about saving hours, it's about the mental load being completely gone. I used to have this low grade anxiety for weeks knowing I had to figure it all out. Now I hand over the docs and forget it exists until it's done. That mental clean slate is worth way more than the fee.
