Question about cold calling for leads versus just using Facebook groups now

I used to spend 3 hours every morning cold calling expired listings from a $200 a month list service. After 6 months of getting maybe one lead, I switched to posting in local real estate Facebook groups. Now I get 2 or 3 solid leads a week just by answering questions about property taxes in Austin. Has anyone else made a switch like this and had it actually work?

Read an article that said cold calling is basically shouting into a void now. Your results with the Facebook groups sound way more Real.
