Heard a guy at a cafe in Portland say he only works with local businesses now
He was telling his friend that focusing on one city made his SEO work way easier. He said he knows the local news sites and can get backlinks from places that actually matter for those clients. I always tried to get anyone, anywhere, but that sounds smarter. Has anyone else picked a specific place to work in and seen better results?

Sounds like a solid plan to me. You build real relationships with local sites instead of just sending cold emails. Makes the whole job feel less like a shot in the dark.

That's a good point about missing bigger trends, but you could always pick a second city later once you've really nailed the first one.
