Hit $10k in a single month and honestly it freaked me out
After three years of grinding, I somehow landed a $10k month back in March. Two big retainer clients and a one-off project just lined up perfectly. Instead of feeling great, I spent the next week stressing about how to keep it going. The month after that? Barely made $3k. That roller coaster taught me more about my pricing and pipeline issues than any book or course ever did. I started thinking about retainer contracts differently after that. Has anyone else hit a random high month and then totally crashed the next one?

Yeah that's the freelancer tax. Feast or famine is brutal.

Freelancing and taxes are a rough combo for sure.

Man that's exactly the kind of thing that keeps you up at night, right? When you finally get a taste of real money and then it just disappears. So what did you actually change with your retainer contracts after that crash? I'm curious if you went with monthly minimums or longer commitments or something else entirely.
