A tax preparer told me my receipts were a disaster last April
She said I was just dumping everything in a shoebox and that's why I missed $1200 in deductions. I switched to scanning everything with my phone right after I buy it and tagging it by month. Has anyone else found a quick way to sort digital receipts without spending hours on it?
I mean is it really that serious though? Unless you're running some massive operation the IRS probably isn't losing sleep over a few crumpled receipts in a drawer. Like yeah, keep them, but the whole "organized system" thing feels a little overkill for most people's taxes.
