Appreciation post: my first time using a spray booth in a friend's shop after years of brushing
After brushing finishes for five years in my garage, I finally tried a spray booth at a buddy's shop in Tacoma last Tuesday and the flawless, even coat on a set of six dining chairs made me realize what I've been missing.

Totally get what your buddy felt with his truck cab. I used to be so stubborn about brushing, telling myself the extra work was part of the craft. Seeing that perfect, even coat come out of a booth is a real eye opener. It just shuts down all the old arguments in your head. You can't unsee how much better and faster it is. It honestly makes you feel a bit silly for fighting it for so long.

My buddy had the same exact thing happen with his old truck cab. He brushed it three times, kept getting streaks and dust stuck in it. Borrowed time at a local shop's booth for one afternoon, and it came out looking like a factory job. Totally changed how he does projects now.

A spray booth makes all the difference for a clean finish. It's worth renting one or finding a friend with a garage you can seal up.

Looking like a factory job" is the dream until you remember most factory jobs these days are done by robots. Maybe the secret is just to stop having human hands.
