Stopped by the old county clerk's office last week and felt ancient

I had to file some papers for a new LLC I'm helping a buddy set up, so I walked into the same county clerk's office I used back in 2009. The whole place is different now. They got this digital kiosk where you can pay with a card and get your stamped copies in like 5 minutes. Back in my day you had to stand in line for an hour and fill out triplicate forms with a pen they chained to the counter. Has anyone else noticed how much faster the state filing times have gotten? I remember waiting 6 weeks for my first EIN confirmation.

Wait, you went to the actual office? They still let people walk in? Here in Multnomah County they shut down in-person filing two years ago, you gotta do everything through that clunky portal now. Your kiosk story is wild to me, I half expected you to say there was a fingerprint scanner or something. I would've loved to stand there and get my stamped copies same-day instead of waiting for the mail like a chump. The chained pens thing was annoying but at least you knew the system was working.

Walked in thinking I’d have to miss lunch and ended up out in 10 minutes flat. Guess we old-timers got played by those chained pens for nothing.

Man, I hear you on the chained pens thing, that really was some kind of weird power trip. But did the digital kiosk actually work right when you used it, or did it glitch out on you? I'm always skeptical when government stuff goes high-tech, feels like it's gonna lock up the second you need it most.
