Finally automated my savings transfers and it forced me to cut stupid spending.
Set up $50 to move every Friday from checking to savings, and now I actually notice when I waste money on takeout or random apps, anyone else use automation to trick yourself into saving more?

Automation's the only way my savings survive.

Your mileage may vary here, but $50 a week into savings isn't really automating trickery as much as it is just a solid habit. The real trick is more about the timing and the pain of losing that money, not just the automation itself. In my experience, if you automate too much without checking in, you can actually miss the point of noticing your spending habits. The takeout and app subscriptions you're cutting now would probably creep back in if you stopped looking at your bank statements. Automation works best when it's paired with a regular review of where your money's actually going, not just moving it out of sight. It's more of a tool to help you see things clearly, not a magic fix for lazy spending.

Automation just reveals how much of our spending is pure laziness or convenience, like my app subscriptions I forgot about until the money stopped disappearing.
