TIL spraying for ants at dawn makes a huge difference

I used to spray any time I saw ants, usually around noon. Last month I had a job in Phoenix where the homeowner insisted I come at 5:30 AM. He said the pros he used before always did it early. I figured it was a waste of time but tried it on a big pavement ant nest. Those ants were right at the surface and the spray hit them before they went deep. Probably 90% knockdown in one pass versus maybe half that on a hot afternoon. Has anyone else noticed a big timing difference with their sprays?

Can I even manage my own daily to-do list without procrastinating first? I've watched ants march in perfect lines and thought, dang, they're more organized than my entire existence. Honestly, I'm just jealous of bugs that have their life together more than I do.

There was actually a study that showed ants waste about 20% of their day just standing around doing nothing. So they're not exactly productivity role models, they're just really good at looking busy when we're watching.
