Had a client offer me $50 for a logo because "it's just a few shapes"
They literally said making a logo is like assembling a sandwich, so I asked if they'd pay a chef $10 for a turkey club. Has anyone else gotten a comparison that made you laugh more than it annoyed you?

The sandwich comparison is actually a pretty good teaching moment if you want to take it that way. Next time, whip out a napkin and draw two triangles touching each other, then point out how that's just a few lines but nobody would call it a finished logo. Explain that the real work is in the strategy behind those shapes, the research into their competitors, and the 10 or 15 bad ideas you had to throw away before getting to the good one. If they still push back, tell them you'll happily do the logo for $50 but without any revisions or file formats beyond a basic jpg. That usually gets them to understand the difference between a shape on a napkin and a real brand mark.

Did they actually say it with a straight face, or were they trying to be funny? I gotta know if they really think a sandwich and a brand identity are the same thing.
