I spent 6 months sending proposals without a single contract signed

Turns out I was burying my rates on page 3 of a 10 page deck nobody read. A buddy in Portland said 'lead with the number and a one-pager' and my close rate went from 1 in 20 to 1 in 5. Anyone else find shorter proposals work way better?

Used to think clients needed all the details up front, but yeah, you're totally right. Cutting my proposals down to one page doubled my close rate too.

A one pager with the number first makes way more sense than ten pages of fluff.

Does anyone actually read those 10 page decks? Most clients just want to know if they can afford you and if you get the problem. Short proposals force you to be clear, that's probably why they work better.
