DAE think Fiverr's service fee should be split between buyer and seller?
I was on Fiverr last week trying to book a $50 logo design gig and noticed the buyer fee was like $7 extra on top. But then as a seller I also get hit with a 20% cut when I get paid. So the platform takes from BOTH sides on the same transaction? That seems DOUBLE for no reason. Wouldn't it be fairer if they just charged a flat 15% to the seller only and left buyers alone? Has anyone else thought about this or am I overthinking it?

$7 fee on a $50 gig is 14% not exactly double dipping.

Fair enough. Used to think those platform fees were straight robbery no matter what, but looking at it that way actually makes sense. Thanks for breaking it down, @finley_smith. Fourteen percent is still annoying but at least it's not like they're charging you twice for the same thing. Still stings a bit when you're the one paying it though. Guess the real question is what you actually get for that cut in terms of promotion or customer support.

People get way too worked up over a few bucks when you break it down. That 14% is annoying but it's not like they're hiding it or anything. At the end of the day it's just the cost of doing business online, nobody's forcing you to use the platform.
