Serious question, I saw a house in Tacoma with a yard full of old cars

I was driving through a neighborhood near Point Defiance last week and saw a property with at least eight junk cars on the lawn. It was a three bedroom listed as a fixer. The realtor sign said 'handyman special' but didn't mention the cars. Made me think, how do you even price that? Do you factor in the cost to haul all that metal away, or is that just a given for the buyer? Has anyone else run into a deal where the land itself was worth more than the cleanup hassle?

Honestly thought Japanese paper was just hype until I bound a poetry collection with it

Ngl, I avoided it for years thinking my usual cotton rag was fine. Then a client insisted on using 'kozo' paper from a shop in Kyoto for a special edition. The way it folded without cracking and held the ink was a game changer. Has anyone else had a material they were wrong about?

Showerthought: The new city park plan in Greenville has zero native oaks

I was reading the draft for the Riverside Park redo and saw they're planting 50 red maples and 30 ginkgos... but not a single native oak species. It feels like a big swing towards 'easy' trees that look nice fast, over the long-term stuff that really helps the local bugs and birds. Has anyone else had to push back on a plan like this and get some real natives back in the ground?

Changed my tune on those new digital door lock testers

My old foreman, Jerry, told me to stick with the old contact method for checking door locks, said the digital ones were just extra junk to carry. I mean, I listened for like a year. Then on a job with a finicky door in an old office building, I borrowed a buddy's digital tester. It showed the lock was dropping out for like 200 milliseconds, something I never would have caught with a meter. Fixed a random nuisance stop that had been bugging the tenant for months. Who else has tried these and what brand are you using?

I switched from a standard wire brush to a poly brush for cleaning tile liners about 6 months ago after a job in Spokane.

The old wire brush would catch and snag on every little crack, but the poly one just glides through and gets the job done in half the time, so what other tools have you guys swapped out that made a big difference?
